This species, considered as a subspecies of Agropyrin
cristatum (L.) Gaertn. and endemic to Krym peninsula by Flora
Europaea is a west Pontic taxon which never provides hybrids or
intergrades with the named species and so clearly merits
specific recognition as well as its close
relative Agropyron brandzae Pantu et Solacolu. Both
species are west Pontic and their main characteristics were
emphasized in the presentation of Agropyron brandzae from
thus site.
The pictures below were taken from outside
Romania, on the Cretaceous cliffs around Balchik, in
north-eastern Bulgaria.
